6th Grade

“Our Sacramental Life” is the theme for the 6th-grade Sunday School as it encompasses the essence of the lessons within the book. The 16 lessons focus on various sacraments of the Orthodox Church such as Baptism, Confession, Matrimony, and the consecration of a Church, all of which are integral parts of the sacramental life of a Christian. These sacraments play a vital role in connecting individuals to God, strengthening their faith, and guiding them on the path toward salvation as outlined in the Nicene Creed. By exploring the significance of these sacraments, students can deepen their understanding of their spiritual journey and relationship with God, making the title “Our Sacramental Life” a fitting reflection of the content and themes covered in the book.

Holy Baptism

G6.LO1 - Explain how Holy Baptism is rebirth and regeneration. (Lesson 2)

G6.LO3 - Identify the significance of the role of our "Baptismal Garment". (Lesson 2)

G6.LO4 - Discuss the Orthodox Church's practice of infant baptism. (Lesson 2)

Holy Chrismation

G6.LO5 - Examine and describe the service of Chrismation.

G6.LO6 - Draw a connection between the service of Chrismation and the consecration of churches as both people and the church building become the temple of God.

G6.LO7 - Investigate the process of making Holy Chrism.

Holy Qurbana

G6.LO8 - Analyze how the Holy Qurbana is communion with the whole Church, both living and the departed.

Holy Matrimony

Holy Confession

Blessing of the Home

G6.LO34 - Explain the symbolism that we see throughout the Church.
