11th Grade

“Work out our Salvation” is the theme for the 11th Grade Sunday School as it focuses on understanding key aspects of our faith such as Christ’s incarnation, death, and resurrection, the role of angels, the significance of baptism, the importance of acting with integrity, the sanctity of the temple, the transfiguration, and the gateway to eternal life. Through exploring these topics, students are guided on a journey toward deepening their understanding of Christian beliefs and practices, ultimately leading them to embrace redemption, eternal life, and salvation in Christ. The title captures the essence of the lessons’ goal to inspire active engagement in the process of reconciling with God and living out our faith in daily life as Orthodox Christians.

Christian Ethics

Holy Matrimony

G11.LO24 - Integrate the Confession of Faith (Omologia) into the concept of Apostolic Succession

G11.LO25 - Distinguish between the Old Testament (Aaronic) Priesthood vs. New Testament (Christ-Melchizedek, Perfection of the Aaronic Priesthood by Christ).

Holy Unction

Blessing of the Home

Burial

Life after Death

G11.LO40 - Assess how death is the separation between soul and body.

G11.LO41 - Perceive what the Church is praying for when we remember the departed.

Transfiguration (Mtale)

G11.LO43 - Connect Transfiguration with the active presence and life of the departed.

G11.LO44 - Connect the events of Transfiguration with the communion of the saints.

G11.LO45 - Explore how Transfiguration is the manifestation of heaven on Earth.

Holy Saturday (Shabtho d'sbartho)

G11.LO46 - Articulate the significance of Christ entering Sheol to save those who already have departed, and destroyed the gates of Sheol as well as the bondage of death.

G11.LO47 - Infer how because all the dead from Adam until Christ's entombment have received the Gospel preached to them on Holy Saturday, for us who are alive and aware of these, it is our responsibility/obligation to repent of our sinfulness as we have no excuse now.

Resurrection (Qyamtha)
