- Anointing of the sick (Qandilo) is the same for clergy and laity. The shorter version is what is most commonly used now. The longer version consists of 5 services with 5 Gospel readings whereas the short version has only one Gospel and two Epistles. The full service is usually done for the clergy in the Malankara Orthodox tradition. Therefore it is commonly misunderstood to be only for clergy but is available for all members of the Church.
