Vocabulary

  1. Ma’altho - The Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple
  2. Whole burnt offering - A sacrifice to God given out of sincere and heartfelt devotion. The offering is consumed completely by fire and regarded as ascending to God while being consumed. This is a commandment of Mosaic law. Leviticus 1 details whole burnt offering requirements.
  3. Sin offering - A sacrifice which provided forgiveness for sins committed unintentionally, in ignorance of the law. The ritualistic method of the sin offering and the animal to be offered varied depending on the wealth of the sinner. This is a requirement of Mosaic law. Leviticus 4 and Numbers 15 detail sin offering requirements.
