  • Vocabulary
    • "Holy" means something that is very special and set apart for God. It is a word we use to describe things that are connected to God and have great importance in our faith. When we say that God and His House are holy, it means that they are very special and deserving of our deep respect and reverence. It is like when we visit our Church, we need to remember that it is a place where we can feel closer to God, because it is a holy place. Just like how we take off our shoes when we enter a special place, like Moses did in front of the burning bush, we show our respect for the holiness of God's house. So, 'holy' means something important and deserving of careful treatment, especially because it is connected to God.
    • "Communion" is a word used to describe being very close to God. In the Orthodox Church, we have a special act called "Holy Communion" where we eat the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. It is like having a special meal with Jesus. Just like how we eat breakfast every morning to get energy, Holy Communion gives us spiritual energy and helps us feel even closer to God. It is a special time for us to connect with God and receive His love.
    • "Reverence" is a word that means showing and treating something or someone with deep respect. It's like when you see something or someone very important or special, and you feel a sense of awe and honor towards them. When we go to Church, we show reverence by being quiet, listening, and praying. We remember that the Church is the House of God, and it is a holy place where we can be close to Him. Just like how Moses had to take off his shoes because he was standing on holy ground, we also show reverence by being mindful of God's presence in the Church and treating it with respect.
