Icon of Remembrance
Icon of Remembrance YouTube Shorts video
As we prepare for the Feast of Pesaha (Maundy Thursday), let me share an icon that reflects what we remember in the Holy Qurbana—The Icon of Remembrance.
This icon is drawn directly from the Holy Taksa, making visible the anamnesis of the Church—not merely recalling, but entering into the saving work of Christ. In the Qurbana, we do not remember a single moment, but the fullness of Christ’s salvific economy.
This icon gathers together twelve sacred events:
Annunciation The conception The Birth of Christ/Nativity Baptism/Epiphany Forty days of fasting The Passion Crucifixion Death Burial Resurrection Ascension Christ enthroned/Judgement
All these are held together as one mystery—remembered, proclaimed, and made present in the Eucharist.
In this way, the icon becomes not just an image, but a theological window, inviting us to contemplate how the entire life of Christ is offered and fulfilled in the Holy Qurbana.
