Final Judgment

1 - Discuss how our Final Judgement and our Salvation is both Faith and Works, and that the debate of "Faith vs Works" is not one that the Orthodox Church partakes.

2 - Validate that Christ is the only Judge, and that we as Orthodox Christians do not judge others.

3 - Reframe how Final Judgment is not legalistic and a form of punishment, but rather a consequence of our choices.

4 - Deduce that if God is merciful and does not judge legalistically, then netither should we.

Church

1 - Defend the existence and function of your Church.

2 - Explain how Church is the place where Sacraments are fulfilled.

3 - Explain how the Church is not a secular institution, but based on the model of communion and love. The Church is essential for the spiritual growth of every Christian.

4 - Dissect the quote, "Wherever the Church is, there is also the Spirit of God, and wherever the Spirit of God is, there is the Church and the fullness of grace." - St. Ireneaus

Circumcision/Naming of our Lord (Gazurthe)

1 - Interpret the connection between Old Testament typology and Christ.

2 - Discover how circumcision was a symbol of the covenant between God and Abraham.

3 - Elaborate on how the Covenant was fulfilled in Christ.

4 - Explain how Baptism has replaced circumcision.

Ascension (Sooloqo)

1 - Interpret the feast of Ascension through Scripture, Icons, and Liturgical prayers/hymns.

2 - Discuss the significance of the number 40.

Pentecost (Siom Boorke)

1 - Summarize how Pentecost relates to the Birth of the Church.

2 - Defend the gifts of the Spirit, including the gift of tongues in the biblical and historical context.

3 - Interpret the significance and discover the meaning of the 3 parts of the service of Pentecost.

Feast of the Holy Cross (Sleebo)

1 - Propose how humility of the Cross is the power of the cross which evil in its pride cannot bear.

2 - Identify how the Cross is the presence of Christ as well as that of the Gospel.

3 - Associate the narrative of the legend of King Abgar with local Syriac tradition.

4 - Develop understanding of the exaltation of the Cross.

5 - Dissect the Kuklion of the Holy Cross.

Holy Scriptures

1 - Justify how the Holy Scripture is our Tradition.

2 - Elaborate on why the Church has precedence to the Scripture.

3 - Familiarize the use of Scripture in the Holy Qurbana.

4 - Examine the process through which the Old and New Testaments were canonized.

5 - Examine the "Lost Gospels" and other Early Texts.

Mission and Evangelism

1 - Deduct that, at the core, one experiences salvation/healing in the Church and then invites others to that same healing/salavtion.

2 - Describe the various styles of evangelism and their efficacy in modern day society.

3 - Perceive the mission of the MOSC in America.

4 - Discuss the reasoning behind the practice of closed communion.

Syriac Liturgical Tradition

1 - Analyze the basic Structure of Holy Qurbana as well as other feasts from the perspective of Syriac Liturgical Tradition.

Diversity and Inclusion

1 - Discuss the Christian response on LGBTQ, racial and gender equality, standing with the victims of abuse, and prison ministry.

2 - Be able to develop and support an argument that accounts for needs and concerns of marginalized groups that builds on the foundation of our Christian theology that God is love and that others are to know Christ not just by our words but through our actions.

3 - Acknowledge and affirm that our Orthodox Faith embraces all people including those beyond our community as we see and know today.

4 - Analyze and critique how our methods, goals, and actions are always focused on Christ even as we participate within political, social, and legal change movements (John 15:19).

Christian Stewardship

1 - Evaluate stewardship versus consumerism.

2 - Evaluate how Christian stewardship can overcome examples of bad stewardship.

3 - Discuss our social and spiritual responsibility as Christian stewards.

4 - Conclude that stewardship is the expression of charity and love.

5 - Elaborate on how stewardship guides management of money and our talents.

Sanctity of Life

1 - Apply the intrinsic value of Sanctity of Life to the issues of Suicide, Euthanesia, IVF, Premarital Sex, Contraception and Abortion.

Mental Health

1 - Defend that the Church's spiritual disciplines and sacraments are medicines and remedies for life in a fallen world.

2 - Perceive the signs of positive and negative behaviors and influences.

3 - Formulate realistic expectations of life beyond high school and appraise personal life & academic choices.

4 - Dispute negative and unhealthy conceptions of body image

5 - Develop techniques to identify stress, ways to mitigate their effects, and methods to heal from stress.

6 - Identify and relate the impacts of shame and guilt and what are appropriate and inappropriate responses and reactions.

7. Evaluate for the impact of social media on mental health and take ownership of that evaluation to make responsible choices when using social media.

Christian Ethics

1 - Defend the Orthodox stance on ethical issues when the society we live in may not have the same foundation that we have.
